The New York Times reported today that home sales picked up in the latter part of 2011. Contracts were up in six of seven months since May, compared with 2010. In addition, the inventory of homes on the market shrank every month, according to Jeffery Otteau. He said it's a sign that the market is stabilizing. While those stats are a statewide average, counties close to New York City are doing much better than rural counties.
