About Allendale
Allendale is one of several towns in northwest Bergen with an excellent school system. Northern Highlands Regional school was recently ranked sixth in the state of New Jersey by NJ Monthly Magazine. But unlike Ridgewood, it's well-known neighbor, Allendale has a "country casual" charm without sacrificing any of Bergen County's sophistication. Allendale has distinct neighborhoods, with San Jacinto being one of the better known affluent sections with colonials, ranches and a few contemporaries. In other areas you'll find pre-1900 farmhouse colonials, ranches, some new construction and a few townhouse developments. Allendale has a commuter train station and conveniently located on the edge of town is Route 17. One of Allendale's unique features is The Celery Farm - a 100-plus acre natural area with walking trail known for its plants, birds and other wildlife (see book lower left.)
